5.0 out of 5 stars Charming story
I found this book very easy to get in to straight away as the story just flowed. I felt a connection with the characters and really wanted the relationship between David and Charlotte to succeed, I loved the description of the small town of Elanora harbour and could picture the beautiful lake and the surrounding trees. Charlotte's deceitful mother tried her best to meddle in Charlotte's life but got her come uppance in the end and this lovely story ended happily ever after.
4.0 out of 5 stars An unexpected guest by Ashton Ryan
Forced by work to return to her hometown to oversee the work on hotel run by her ex and face her family issues which made her leave and not look back. An enjoyable read.
4.0 out of 5 stars Romance in Elantra Harbour
I liked this book. You start reading and are immediately drawn into learning more about the characters.
Charlotte is sent back to her picturesque home town, on the edge of a lake, to help a failing business. She is sharp and highly efficient. David, the owner of the business is the man who broke her heart. She left mainly due to her overbearing evil mother. Returning with her son she believes she will be able to sort out the business and escape without seeing her mother or ghastly sister. Her relationship builds with her former lover who now has a little girl. A good read for a lazy afternoon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Second chance romance with a gorgeous inn
Unexpected second chance romance. Once I started this book I didn't want to put it down. It was intriguing and eventful!
Charlotte works with a banking company that helps businesses get back on there feet. She was told to return to Elanora Harbour and help a failing business. Come to find out it's the old inn she used to work at when she was younger and it is now owned by her ex-boyfriend. Things did not end well for them back then so it's a bit awkward for them to be seeing one another again. David was given the inn when Grandmother Rose passed away but he was ex-army and had no idea how to run/manage a business which is where Charlotte came in. The chemistry between these two was great though and I loved the slow burn romance that was developing again between Charlotte and David.
Charlotte had a terrible/non-existent relationship with her mother. I would have to say that is one thing I did not like about this book; was her mother! She was just a terrible greedy person who did not care about other people and just wanted to use Charlotte's son. Charlotte's son Daniel was such a cute kid though and I enjoyed reading about Kelsey as well. They made great friends but I do wish we could have gotten more dialogue from them or got to see things from their perspective as well.
I definitely was not expecting the ending though with her mother and everything that Charlotte had to go through in such a short amount of time. This inn sounded like a wonderful place to visit though and I loved reading about all the updates they were making.
I did enjoy the fact that you find things out as you read the story instead of learning everything in the beginning. I was so glad that this story finally had a happy ending; maybe even for more than one couple. This book could go into a series of standalones based on all the great characters and the budding romance at the end; We will just have to see what this author has in story next!

I thought this book was a fantastic read. Loved the storyline and loved the ending! Was not expecting the twist
This is the second book I've read written by Ashton Ryan. The characters are well developed; the author has a way with words that draws you into their lives. The storyline is filled with emotional highs and lows, and twists I didn't see coming. I appreciate an author that can have romance without the smut. Highly recommend it if you are looking for a good story, heartbreak, romance, and more!
