Finding Home, is a story of love lost and found again in the most unexpected place.
Lori Watson was living a life she loved. A fantastic job at the bank, friends, renovating her beloved home by the bay, and about to meet the love of her life, Trevor, for the first time. Lori had met Trevor online, whilst he lived in Canada, he was taking a leap and coming out to Australia so they could meet in person. Lori was deliriously happy and had so many plans for them.
One phone call from her family put an end to all that; her father was dying. Lori quit her job, closed up her house in Wynnum and said goodbye to Trevor, to travel the hundreds of kilometres back to her hometown in country NSW to care for him.
When her father passed, she couldn’t tear herself away from his home and her last connection to him. So, instead of returning home to Brisbane to resume her life as her family thought she would, she remained in Dungog to lead a quiet, solitary life; a new kind of life she loved.
On the anniversary of his passing, a bushfire tears through the valley and national park she calls home. After making it out alive, she returns later, only to be devastated to find the fire has left her with nothing. With not enough funds to rebuild her father’s home, Lori comes up with a plan. She can return to the house she owns in the Brisbane bayside suburb of Wynnum, use what little funds she has to finish the renovations she started all those years ago, so she can sell it for enough to rebuild and resume her life in Dungog.
Funny thing is, Fate has stepped in, and Trevor is travelling to Australia to visit his younger sister, Julia. Not even with Julia, trying everything she can to keep Trevor away, can stop Trevor and Lori from meeting and finding out how they really feel. Is it enough though, to overcome Lori’s secret and the fact that they live on opposite sides of the world?
